Biography
Seher Toguz is an experienced solicitor who qualified in 2009 and has over 16 years' experience in legal practice. She advises individuals, landlords, tenants and businesses across a broad range of commercial property, landlord and tenant, property litigation, civil litigation, public law and private client matters.
Prior to joining Kreston Solicitors, Seher developed a substantial practice in immigration, human rights and public law. She was formerly a Director and Joint Head of the Immigration Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, where she specialised in complex judicial review proceedings, human rights cases and High Court litigation.
She was individually recommended by The Legal 500 for her work in Immigration and Human Rights, with particular recognition for her expertise in unlawful detention cases.
Seher now has a broad practice with a particular emphasis on commercial property and landlord and tenant matters. She regularly advises landlords, tenants, business owners and investors in connection with commercial leases, assignments, rent reviews, forfeiture and applications for relief from forfeiture. She also advises on disputes arising from commercial tenancies and the termination and renewal of business tenancies under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954.
Her property litigation practice includes residential and commercial possession proceedings, rent arrears claims, forfeiture, relief from forfeiture, dilapidations, disrepair disputes and other landlord and tenant matters. Seher is experienced in managing cases from the initial pre-action stage through to the commencement and conduct of court proceedings, while seeking commercially sensible solutions wherever possible.
Seher also undertakes a range of civil and commercial litigation, including contractual disputes, consumer and construction-related claims and property disputes. Her extensive contentious background enables her to identify potential litigation risks at an early stage and provide clients with clear and pragmatic advice on strategy, procedure and settlement.
Drawing on her specialist public law background, Seher continues to advise on judicial review and disputes involving public authorities. She has extensive experience of High Court judicial review proceedings, urgent injunctions and applications for interim relief.
Seher also assists clients with selected private client and property-related matters, including probate and letters of administration, company restoration applications and Land Registry matters.
She holds the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation - Senior Caseworker accreditation.
Seher is a native Turkish speaker and is able to advise Turkish-speaking clients directly.
